NORTHEAST ROCKS AS 6.4 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS TIBET

A STRONG EARTHQUAKE MEASURING 6.4 ON RICHTER SCALE JOLTED TIBET'S NYINGCHI PREFECTURE, NEAR INDIA-CHINA BORDER REGION IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH.

IT WAS ALSO FELT IN DIBRUGARH, NORTH LAKHIMPUR, JORHAT, TEZPUR, GUWAHATI AND OTHER PLACES IN ASSAM AS ALSO IN KOHIMA IN NAGALAND.

The US Geological Survey website however described it as a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, and specifically mentioned Nyingchi (more known as Linzhi), the administrative headquarter of Bayi district in south-east Tibet.
It was also felt in Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Tezpur, Guwahati and other places in Assam as also in Kohima in Nagaland.
There is however no report of any loss of life or damage to property from any of the Northeastern states.
