THIS IS AN ATTACK MEANT TO DERAIL PROGRESS IN SOMALIA AS THE COUNTRY REBUILDS AND CONSOLIDATES THE GAINS MADE ON PEACE AND SECURITY, MADEIRA SAID.

"This is an attack meant to derail progress in Somalia as the country rebuilds and consolidates the gains made on peace and security," Madeira said.
"We condemn these attacks and will continue to work with our Somali and international partners in the fight against violent extremism in Somalia," the State Department spokesperson said.
The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madeira, said Somalia had made great strides in taking back territory from the terrorist group.
